Let’s Get This Out of the Way

I wanted to start this blog to help keep people up to date on my journey through this whole cancer thing. BUT let me be clear right up front, I am not asking for anything! At someone's recommendation I watched the CBS documentary "Scamanda" and the idea that someone would fake having cancer just for her own personal and financial gain sickens me. I am not looking for any donations, gifts, "bucket list" experiences, or any of that. After having to type the same updates again and again, I just thought this would be an easier way to expedite the process. And there are definitely things that, as I go through this, caught me totally by surprise. So if my words bring some comfort to someone or make someone feel less alone in their journey, that's fantastic. Friends have given me gifts, started a meal train, etc. and I am beyond grateful, but I DO have cancer and I'm not writing this blog to ask for anything. If this blog ends up inspiring you to do anything, just do something nice for someone. Hold thebdoor for someone, buy lunch for a service member standing behind you in line at Subway, thank a teacher or first reaponder. Just do one thing to make the world a better place for another person. Sure, I have cancer but everyone's life has challenges. Help someone forget about their problems even if kustbfor a moment. And I apologize if there are several fast and furious posts. I have been hesitant tonstart this for the reasons I mentioned above but I have had a few different things I wanted to update over the past few weeks, so they might come all at once.     Yeah, wasn't Scamanda beyond belief? What a horrible person and I'm glad she's sitting where she is, although I think she may have been transferred or is being transferred to a halfway house soon. Socks ing. Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'll follow you on here too!

      She was in some type of “recovery house”’ by the time the show ended. That was a few years ago though. By now she’s probably out and likely starting another scam.
      She’s a criminal and there’s something wrong with her.

Special Days Are Harder

“Special” days are definitely harder. I can’t explain exactly why but plain old regular days are easier than the holidays and special days. I really don’t think it’s the “what if this is my last Thanksgiving?” even though that thought is in there. Maybe it’s the great time spent with loved ones and the “Happy Thanksgiving” messages and texts from friends and loved ones that remind you how great life is and how much you stand to lose if things don’t work out. Keep Hope Alive (But Don’t Think It Will Be Easy)

One of my friends who is has been battling cancer longer than me told me the mental game is actually the hardest part of fighting cancer. And I agree. I’ve also been told that staying positive and optimistic is the only way to get through It. I can definitely see that, but it can be pretty goddamn hard! A lot has happened since my last entry, but quite frankly, I just haven’t felt like writing anything. (Good thing I’m not an author!). I finished my entire first batch of chemo, rang the bell, celebrated that milestone, enjoyed some level of remission (we knew the chemo wasn’t going to bring total remission on its own), enjoyed my family, my work, and got some solid rehearsals in.The original tumor I could see on my lower left jaw was still there, but had definitely improved a lot over the course of the chemo… right up until it didn’t.
